In Memorium of an Admiral / Peril for the City of Goth...
Those of us that our blessed just enough to find great fulfillment and enjoyment from the Star Wars sagas have a tendency to praise even the smallest or underused character from the films. One such character was that of Imperial Admiral Ozzel who appeared in a few scenes of "Star Wars, Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back" and was given the old, patented Vader choke hold which lead to the character's demise.
Sadly, the actor who portrayed Ozzel, Michael Sheard, passed away this week at the age of 65 after a long illness. Though, I never had the chance to meet him, I know a few SW fans that did at a few of the Star Wars conventions. They said that he was very nice, approachable and out going. He will be missed by us geeks!
In other sad news, it looks as though the wonderfully victorian, gothic city of New Orleans is in great peril as it was completley flooded by Hurrican Katrina. I have two friends that were planning to go down there and enjoy it's spooky and vampiric charms this coming Ocotber. I'm guessing that trip is on hold as experts are saying that the city won't be inhabitable for possibly 3 months!!! It was a city that I always wanted to visit, but never got around to it. It has such a rich history involving ghosts and vampires and voo-doo. It will never be the same.
Ya know, Mother Nature sure can be one bi-polar wench! One minute your enjoying a beautiful day outside, watching leaves fall from the trees or suckling Octoberfest from her teet (read entire blog), Then the next, she hits you with one huge poop storm that takes away everything you know. ....that's about as spiritual as I get. Not good, huh.
My heart and thoughts go out to the people who's lives this storm has drasticaly changed!!! But my heart doesn't go out to all the oil barrons who are taking advantage of this tragedy to gouge the frell out of the gasoline prices. For shame!!!
Well, I'm heading over to my sister's (Dizzy Lizzie) for dinner where a box of cigars I ordered are waiting for me with open arms!!
Zangz.
