Casting Pods and Hunting the Nobel Dead....

Here's another quickie...

The editor of that free press / comedic / fiasco / local paper I contribute to wants to turn my column into a podcast. Personally, I think that's a really fun idea (says Zangz, while stroking his ego). But, one of the biggest obstacles is that neither of us has the foggiest clue as to how to go about this. I asked my friend, Roberto DelAmorte about it (since his Halo gaming group has a monthly one on their website - 2old2play.com). Roberto told me that they have a very nice set up that includes two servers and some professional recording equipment and their own space on the web. So, we'll see if anything actually comes out of this. But I've always wanted to do some sort of program that has a roundtable discussion format about the genres of Sci-Fi, Fantasy, Horror and pop culture. Don't hold your breath, but if something does transpire, I'll give you all the 411.

As for right now, I'm presenting another edition of.....

WEBSITE OF THE MOMENT:

The Noble Dead.com
Usually I try and feature a website that is not only visually stimulating, but also very informative while also being accessible to all. Admittedly, this one's going to appeal to a bit of a niche audience as it's the official website to the writing team of Barb and CJ Hendee, authors of the Dhampire series of fantasy novels. There are three novels out so far ("Dhampire", "Thief of Lives" and "Sister of Dead") with a fourth one on the way ("Traitor to the Blood"). They all take place in a medieval, fantasy world where the two main heroes, Magiere, the Goth-esque half human / half vampire, and her partner, Leesil the elf, go out and hunt down vampires (also known as the Noble Dead). The reason I put this link up is that I find the books a fun, pulpy departure from the usual, blogged down fantasy fare out there on the bookshelves. It's not one of those series that has subtitles like, "Part Seven of Volume Thirty One". You don't have to read 20 books to get into the series. Both the world and the characters are easy to get into. And the stories are lots of fun and a are pretty quick reads. So if you're looking to get into some good, action packed, fun to read while not being too heavy fantasy fiction, check out the website and then pick up Barb and JC Hendee's Dhampire books.

It's late and I'm hittin' the hay.

PS. Saw "The Wedding Crashers" last night. Funniest movie I've seen all year!

Zangz.
