In Memorium of an Admiral / Peril for the City of Goth...

Those of us that our blessed just enough to find great fulfillment and enjoyment from the Star Wars sagas have a tendency to praise even the smallest or underused character from the films. One such character was that of Imperial Admiral Ozzel who appeared in a few scenes of "Star Wars, Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back" and was given the old, patented Vader choke hold which lead to the character's demise.

Sadly, the actor who portrayed Ozzel,
Michael Sheard, passed away this week at the age of 65 after a long illness. Though, I never had the chance to meet him, I know a few SW fans that did at a few of the Star Wars conventions. They said that he was very nice, approachable and out going. He will be missed by us geeks!

In other sad news, it looks as though the wonderfully victorian, gothic city of New Orleans is in great peril as it was completley flooded by Hurrican Katrina. I have two friends that were planning to go down there and enjoy it's spooky and vampiric charms this coming Ocotber. I'm guessing that trip is on hold as experts are saying that the city won't be inhabitable for possibly 3 months!!! It was a city that I always wanted to visit, but never got around to it. It has such a rich history involving ghosts and vampires and voo-doo. It will never be the same.

Ya know, Mother Nature sure can be one bi-polar wench! One minute your enjoying a beautiful day outside, watching leaves fall from the trees or suckling Octoberfest from her teet (read entire blog), Then the next, she hits you with one huge poop storm that takes away everything you know. ....that's about as spiritual as I get. Not good, huh.

My heart and thoughts go out to the people who's lives this storm has drasticaly changed!!! But my heart doesn't go out to all the oil barrons who are taking advantage of this tragedy to gouge the frell out of the gasoline prices. For shame!!!

Well, I'm heading over to my sister's (Dizzy Lizzie) for dinner where a box of cigars I ordered are waiting for me with open arms!!

Single Male Geek seeks cute, English actress who stars in a couple of vampire movies with the name Underworld. Inquiries contact me PRONTO!

Here are a few geek-esque notes of interest I'd like to quickly touch upon with my own self important, yet under appreciated, viewpoints......

  • Although they were supposed to announce who the new James Bond would be by the end of this summer, the folks at Eon productions continue to slow down the franchise more and more by dragging their feet with the whole film series. Admittedly, I've been VERY critical of them, especially after letting go of Pierce Brosnan from the film role that he saved. There is one, very small, pin hole sized ray of light through this whole James Bond debacle. Seems as though one of the actors in the running is Goran Visnijic (from ER). He seems to be the only "name" actor where people actually have a clue who he is among those up for the role. But, he's merely in the running and there are other, lesser known folks up against him. Will the folks at Eon flub this decision up also? Hafta wait and see.
  • Prior to being a big fan of fully, open-ended, action video/RPG games, I was a big fan of what are called "Survival Horror" games. These are games that focus on not only action, but a bit of stratagem also. You needed to conserve the health and weapons you find and know when it is time for flight, or when it is time for flight. The "Resident Evil" series are the most famous games that are under the "Survival Horror" genre. But, my favorite was a game called "Silent Hill". This series has 3 or 4 games under it's belt already, though I've only had a chance to play the first on the old PS1. It scared the frell outta me. I think (other than Doom 3) it has been the only game that made me jump out of my seat while playing it. And it was dripping with a very disturbing dose of Lovecraftian horror. Well, I recently found out that Hollywood is making a movie based on the game and it's supposedly going to star one of my favorite actors, Sean Bean ("GoldenEye", "Lord of the Rings"). So I'm hoping it will have a really kick-A script and not be another "videogame to film cruddy script". Let's cross our fingers.
  • Hollywood is making a sequel to a really underrated vampire film, "Underworld"! It's called, "Underworld: Evolutions". Nobody said the title was going to be seeped in originality. But anything with Kate "I'm more beautiful than God" Beckinsale and vampires at war has got to be a boatload of geekosity! Lookin' forward to that one! (Just found a picture of Beckinsale in full vampire garb shooting a crossbow and made it my wallpaper for the ol' PC. Welcome, Mr. Zangz, to the Beckinsale Pleasure Dome. Wooo Hooo)
That's it for today, kiddies! I gotta go eat dinner and watch "Las Vegas". I could stay and do a lot of the link functions for names and titles in this Blog. But, I'm hungry, and you folks know how to use Google, don't ya? ya lazy bastages!

6th Reader of Zangz Blog of Geekdom Comes out of the Closet!!!!

Yep. We have a 6th person who actually admits to reading my blog. My sister, who we shall refer to as "Dizzy Lizzy" hence forth, has actually admitted to the fact that she actually reads my blog. So, that makes 4 people who have taken on the risky role of being a reader of my blog more than once. The list is as follows...
  • Dizzy Lizzy
  • MaMa Schu
  • Roberto Del Amorte
  • Carlo
  • Goof
  • Aaron
That's 5 people who've actually bothered to visit this site more than once. Hell, even Goof has made replies to the Blog every once in a blue moon. Well, thank god for small miracles!

In other news, I picked up two DVD's pretty cheap at Target today. "Howard Stern's Private Parts" (Loved watching him back when he was on E!) and "Farscape: The Peacekeeper Wars" (the 4 hour, series finale, mini-series that the Sci-Fi Channel gave us Farscape fans after they realized how much they frelled up when they unceremoniously took it off the air! Yep... still bitter!). I got 'em both under a total of $20. Pretty good for a shrewd, geek shopper.

Tomorrow leads me to a cookout / baby shower for the DelAmorte child. Hopefully, there won't be any rain as the local "Elite Brilliance Squad" known as the local weather teams have predicted rain for today's late afternoon into the evening and being finished by tomorrow morning. Yet, it is well into the 8th hour of the evening and there is no rain to be seen. I'm hoping it won't hit us later and will be well over by the time tomorrow afternoon rolls around! If not, we'll have to disembowel the whole lot of weather people who fool us into thinking they know what there doing.

Ya know, for all that money the news stations spend on weather equipment, we seem to be no closer to predicting weather than the days where humans would roll the bones of their ancestors to predict storms.

Anyway, admitedly that was a pretty uninformative Blog so here's another....

WEBSITE OF THE MOMENT:

Destination: Morrowind
I've raved about this PC / Xbox RPG before, but here's an entire website from fans who appreciate it, possibly more than I do. As I've explained before, The Elder Scrolls series of games introduced players to a "do anything / be anything / whenever you want / how you want / if you want / open ended / non-linear video game before the likes of GTA: III ever came out. The game of Morrowind (the 3rd in the series) took place in this huge world where, with a first or third person perspective, you could investigate your surroundings and do anything you'd like. You could go through the main quest of the game or bypass it for a latter time and do some of the smaller quests or just walk around the immense world, marveling at the many different deserts, forests, swamps and ruins that occupied the landscape for you to peruse and discover on your own time. You could be evil and rob and kill and steal or you could be heroic and help others and thwart the curses that are layed over the land. It took me 8 months to go through and cover the entire world that was in the game while completing the main quest. It was, and has been, the greatest video RPG game I have ever played and has ruined for me most other action RPG's that have appeared on counsels since. Keep you eyes open for "Elder Scrolls III: Oblivion" to come out when the next generation of Xbox (Xbox: 360) comes out. It's the ONE and ONLY reason I'm considering getting a 360!

That's all for now. Check back again.

Contest winners, historical Americans and an album long over due....

Yea, I know. I haven't blogged since Sunday. But, I haven't had much to blog about. But, today I've accumulated enough silliness to pinch out a Blog of Geekdom for all you fine folks (the 4 of you that actually bother with this site) to waste your precious time reading.

First on the agenda, CONGRATU-FRELLING-LATIONS to my friend Leslie who went down to Indiana for a day and attended Gen Con (Note from Zangz: not really Gen Con unless it's in Millwaukee. Yep. Still bitter.) where she won a Star Wars costume contest by dressing as Viqi Shesh! Most of you reading this (4 of you) will be asking yourselves, "Who the frell is Viqi Shesh?" She's a character from the later, New Jedi Order novels (you know, the books where they killed off Chewie and had 90% of the Star Wars universe destroyed by a new and nasty alien race). As I understand it, she's a traitorous villain (Not Leslie! Viqi!), and the judges were not only impressed with the outfit (tailored by someone named Beret), but also by the fact that she picked a character that had never been costumed. So, again congrats to Leslie for winning out over a guy in a Boba Fett outfit and claiming first prize! $100 is headed Leslie's way. You'd think that Gen Con would pony up a bit more cash since they're such the money machine since they left Milwaukee. (sarcasm Mode: stuck in the "On Mode")

Next (second!) on the agenda.... Alcohol! Yeah, alcohol!!!! This past week the temperature has been a bit chilly for August. We've been hitting 50 degrees in the evenings. I've also noticed that some of the trees are starting to change colors ever so slightly. These are the signs that my favorite season of the year (Fall, you knobs!) is on the way. But, one of the best signs that crops up is the fact that there's a certain Octoberfest beer that is starting to hit the store shelves right now. I don't know if it would be proper etiquette here at Blogger.com to mention a company , brand name (I don't want this to turn into a beer commercial). But, suffice it to say, it is a brewing company out of Boston that makes a Lager and is named after an American historical figure with the initials of S.A. (and if you can't figure out what beer co. that is... I weep for you.) Tonight I had my first of the fall season. And all I can tell you is this one simple statement....

"Drinking this Octoberfest is like suckling the nectar of the god's from the teet of Mother Nature herself ,while joyfully taking in the flow of autumnal love as it passes over the taste buds and reaches the gullet!" - Zangz, 2005 A.D.

And you can frellin' quote me on that!!!! It's all about the deep, yet not overpowering taste, the smooth delivery down the throat and the slight cinnamon after taste that hits you after it leaves your mouth. Since I won't be hitting nearly as many haunted attractions this Halloween as I have in year's past, this year will be all about the Octoberfest!

The Third subject to cover on tonight's docket is the question, "When the frell is Type-O-Negative ever coming out with their next album? First, their website has told us that the lead vocalist/bassist/main song writer, Pete, had some health issues that cancelled last year's fall tour. Then it hinted that he was ok and that they were starting to record their next album that is supposed to come out this year. Then they freaked a bunch of their fans out by posting a graphic that hinted that Pete had died. The band then admitted that is was a case of April Fools joke. Then they took away a mass majority of their website and left the message board. Usually the band likes to release their albums around the fall season. But, there is no word on what is going on with the band. So we wait and see what the frell they'll come up with this time. Though, they are certainly not lyrically the most politically correct band. I still feel they are the most underrated hard rock band of our time. They'll never get the accolades they deserve. Perhaps that's the way they like it. Most people lump them in as a Goth band, or a Metal band, or a Hard Core band. But, at the end of the day, they're just Type-O-Negative! I'm listening to their album, "October Rust" as I write this. No matter how many times I listen to it, I still marvel at it!

I think that's all for today. Now that I've kissed the butt of both SA Boston Lager and Type-O-Negative, I'd be nice to get some free stuff out of it. (a couple 12 packs of Octoberfest? Advanced copy of next album?). I'm not gunna hold my breath.

"Well, that's about it... that's all I have... I hope it wasn't too disappointing. You will hear from me again on the next Blog of Geekdom. Until then.... take it eas.............................................................................................................................................................. ........................................................................................."
(Right now a bunch of Type-O-Negative fans are giggling to themselves in recognition and thinking about how clever I am....... NOT!)

Casting Pods and Hunting the Nobel Dead....

Here's another quickie...

The editor of that free press / comedic / fiasco / local paper I contribute to wants to turn my column into a podcast. Personally, I think that's a really fun idea (says Zangz, while stroking his ego). But, one of the biggest obstacles is that neither of us has the foggiest clue as to how to go about this. I asked my friend, Roberto DelAmorte about it (since his Halo gaming group has a monthly one on their website - 2old2play.com). Roberto told me that they have a very nice set up that includes two servers and some professional recording equipment and their own space on the web. So, we'll see if anything actually comes out of this. But I've always wanted to do some sort of program that has a roundtable discussion format about the genres of Sci-Fi, Fantasy, Horror and pop culture. Don't hold your breath, but if something does transpire, I'll give you all the 411.

As for right now, I'm presenting another edition of.....

WEBSITE OF THE MOMENT:

The Noble Dead.com
Usually I try and feature a website that is not only visually stimulating, but also very informative while also being accessible to all. Admittedly, this one's going to appeal to a bit of a niche audience as it's the official website to the writing team of Barb and CJ Hendee, authors of the Dhampire series of fantasy novels. There are three novels out so far ("Dhampire", "Thief of Lives" and "Sister of Dead") with a fourth one on the way ("Traitor to the Blood"). They all take place in a medieval, fantasy world where the two main heroes, Magiere, the Goth-esque half human / half vampire, and her partner, Leesil the elf, go out and hunt down vampires (also known as the Noble Dead). The reason I put this link up is that I find the books a fun, pulpy departure from the usual, blogged down fantasy fare out there on the bookshelves. It's not one of those series that has subtitles like, "Part Seven of Volume Thirty One". You don't have to read 20 books to get into the series. Both the world and the characters are easy to get into. And the stories are lots of fun and a are pretty quick reads. So if you're looking to get into some good, action packed, fun to read while not being too heavy fantasy fiction, check out the website and then pick up Barb and JC Hendee's Dhampire books.

It's late and I'm hittin' the hay.

PS. Saw "The Wedding Crashers" last night. Funniest movie I've seen all year!

How to Hose a British Secret Service Agent with a License to Kill....

One of the first columns I wrote for the local free press / comedic paper I write in (No! Not that one.) was about how the producers of the Bond movies really hosed themselves, and those of us die hard James Bond fans, by unceremoniously giving Pierce Brosnan his pink slip. So, today I felt I'd blog a bit more about it, since a recent article in Entertainment Weekly has an interview with Mr. Brosnan (aka: the best frelling thing to happen to the Bond movies since the release of "Goldfinger") has sparked my ire with Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli (producers of the Bond films).

Any human being blessed with 1/4 of a brain would have figured out that filming at least one more movie with Brosnan would have been box office gold! They could have promoted the heck out of the fact that it would have been the last Bond film of the Brosnan era. Even if Brosnan out priced himself, they could have more than made up for it with his final Bond movie. But, instead they very stupidly fired Brosnan from the role right in the middle of writing up a contract for him to do a 5th and final Bond movie. What the......?

They plan to do a Bond film based on Ian Fleming's "Casino Royale" with some new, younger actor (yet to be announced) to play Bond. It's supposed to start filming this winter with a possible Summer 2006 release. If this thing ends up being a stinker, we're all going to witness the end of the Bond franchise as we know it.

Why do these producers continue to cheese off past actors who've portrayed Bond? The only one who's still tight with the Broccoli family is Roger Moore. Otherwise, none of them have anything nice to say to about them.

Well, I got that out of my system for now. I'm sure there will be more ranting and whining once the new Bond is announced and the movie comes out. So check back here then.

Hey, here'a quickie note of musical interest for you. Right now I'm listening to Faith No More's CD, "The Real Thing". Though it was released almost 15 years ago, it was way ahead of it's time and still sounds darn fine by today's standards. It mixes Heavy Metal with rap with instrumental with a cornacopia of other influences. Nothing has ever sounded like it since. Too bad the band is no longer together. The only crux this band has ever had was that in the early 80's, queen of all skanks, Courtney Love, was a member of the band. Thank the good lord they gave her walking papers before they went big time!!!! Faith No More was good stuff!! I challenge you to go out and broaden your horizons by listening to it. Hard to find in the stores, but I bet you can find it out on the net somewhere.

Firing Courtney Love fom Faith No More = Very Good Thing!
Firing Pierce Brosnan from the role of James Bond = Very Bad Thing!

I'm callin' it a day here at Zangz's Blog of Geekdom. See ya.

Doomed to the Third Power!!!!!!

Hope you all had a festive weekend. I spent it bumming around the homestead. Which means I spent quality time with my PS2 and Xbox.

I'm starting to find a new love for Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas. I walked away from it for a while and recently got back into it. I'm only a smidgen into the vast, open-ended crime simulation, but I'm having fun keeping the main character, buff, wealthy and well armed. I've got him doing some serious pimpin' in the hood. I just hate those dance mini games and missions they throw at you. I'm as coordinated as a club footed infant, drunk on wine. So it will take me a while to open up more of the game.

As for Xbox, I went out and rented Doom III. What a phenomenal game! I was really impressed with the graphics and level designs. They keep a lot of the designs from the original PC and Doom64 games, but updated them 100% so they would more than pacify the newer players and seem sort of nostalgic to us old-time players. And the spook-house pop-out effects came straight out of many haunted attractions I've been to. Sure, the designers took a few liberties with the monsters taking one too many a cheap shot at you, but you feel like you've been through heck in a hand basket after you get through a level. I like single player first person shooters (FPS) that can really immerse you into a world, and that's just what Doom III does.

Well, another, inspiring, thought provoking episode of Las Vegas is on. I truly believe that this show could unlock the secrets to the cosmos. I gotta run!

Metalhead at Heart...

Here we are on a Friday night at 9pm and I'm still frellin' around on the internet. Isn't that the life of a diehard geek? What's even worse is the fact that I have absolutley nothing to really blog about tonight. I'm just bored and in some need of desperate attention.

I guess I can mention the fact that I'm toying with the idea of going to see old favorites Judas Priest, with special guests Anthrax, at the arena in early October. Haven't seen Priest since they hit Alpine Valley on their "Ram it Down" tour back in the early 90's. It's a little on the pricey side at $40 to $70 a ticket. But I may just fall for it since I'm going through a slight mid-life crisiss and need the nostalgia to get me through.

Ummmm.... what else?

Oh... Ozzy announced that this was his last, full time Ozzfest this year. He may pop in and do a special cameo from time to time in the future years, but evidently you won't see him fronting Sabbath or his own solo band anymore. Admittedly, I've never been to Ozzfest, but I'd think that people who have would tell you that Ozzfest without Ozzy Osbourne would be like a Swiss cheese sanwhich without the Swiss cheese. Why bother? Perhaps he could MC the show and introduce all the bands or be at a booth and sign autographs or dress up like a clown and walk around and urinate on peoples' feet like my creepy uncle slappy used to do at family reunions.

That's really all there is for now. Hope I didn't take away too much of your time on this blog. ( PS. I actually have no creppy Uncle Slappy and there was never any urinating on peoples' feet at family reunions. I made that up for the attention. God... I need a girlfriend.)

Ode to Virginia Hey....

Many of you may be asking yourselves, "Who the frell is Virginia Hey?" Well let me tell ya. Virginia Hey is an actress who portrayed a spiritual, plant like alien named Zahn in my favorite defunct sci-fi TV show, "Farscape".

"Why the frell are you writing about her on your blog, Zangz?" you may be asking yourselves right now. Well, there are four reasons. #1. My friend, Leslie, emailed me about a Con that's coming to Chicago that Miss Hey will be attending. #2. I followed a link that was on that Con's website to her personal website. #3. I found some really cool, mindless information to post here about her. Here it goes...

  • Didja know that Virginaia Hey was the female, white armor clad, crossbow armed warrior in the movie "The Road Warrior"?
  • Didja know that she was heavily involved with Michael Hutchinson from INXS before he left her for skanky groupie, Paula Yates, who left him for Bob Geldoff? Of course Karma made a small visit to Mr. Hutchinson's' hotel room years later. Karma can be a vile, cold hearted wench when she wants to be. (was that a too dark and twisted analogy for you all? Too bad, this is my Blog of Geekdom after all!). Honestly, though, "Shabboo, Shabba" is one of the greatest Rock'N'Roll albums to come out of the 80's and I'll be gosh darned if I can find it on CD anywhere.
  • My first, unshaparoned concert was Adam Ant with special guests INXS at the Eagles Club Ballroom (Now known as the RAVE).
  • Since she left Farscape she moved from Austrailia to L.A. and has her own brand of relaxing scneted candles out now.
  • She Blogs just like I do. Though, she probably has far more visitors than the 4 (Carlo, MamaSchu, Goof, Roberto DelAmorte) I do.
  • I frellin' love the bullet function on this Blog!!!
  • I actually got the chance to meet her, although breifly, at a small convention here in town a few short years ago. She seemdd very sweet and kind in person.
#4. I'm on my 4th Bergoff of the evening and had to write about something!

In other news, I gotz lots of creative writting to do. I gotta write another article for the free press paper I contribute to (though, the editor hasn't given me a deadline yet), I gotta write up another "Call of Cthulhu" game to run in September as well as some other writting up duties I need to get to. Well, I'm
not gunna do it on 4 Bergoff beers, am I? So I'm gunna cut myself off here and see what's on TV. Untill next time, take care of yourselves!

(Note to self: Lay off the Bergoff when Bloggin')

More Ramblings....

Not much to talk about in the world of geekdom or my personal world for that matter. Just a couple of notes to hit....

  • Spent Saturday dog sitting...again. But, it was a lot of fun as I was over at my sister and bro-in-law's sitting their dog. It's always a mini vacation whenever I spend time over their dog sitting as they have a boat-load more cable channels (G4, anyone? Tina Wood, Morgan Webb, Laura Foy and the rest of the incredible gamer girls on G4, anyone? ) and a very nice backyard patio to sit on and enjoy the comforts of a nice fat-assed cigar. Good times, good times.
  • I forgot to mention this back when Bruce Campbell was in town. Although there's absolutely no plans for an "Evil Dead 4", he is working on some pre-production work on a yet to be titled movie project that will have him playing himself in a town of his home state, Oregon, gets infested with zombies. People of the town mistake him for his character of Ash (from the Evil Dead flicks) and expect him to save the day. Thus, hilarity ensues! Sounds pretty frellin' cool to me!!! I don't know when this is set to come out, but they may be shooting it soon.
  • The next Harry Potter movie ("Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire") looks to be getting a PG-13 rating rather than the usual PG this time around. Seems as the books get darker so will the movies. Perhaps once they hit No. 7 we'll be seeing some NC-17 action, huh?
  • The new season of one of my favorite shows, "24" starts this coming January ('06), yet star, Keiffer Sutherland, has yet to sign on for the 5th season. What's up with that? Anyway they're adding a few new characters to the show this season. Rumor has it that kick-A ex-president, President Palmer, will not be in this season. Bummer.
  • Though I'll be forced to slow down this coming Halloween, some of the local haunted houses are already setting up and making their plans for this season's scares. Even HauntedWisconsin.com is starting to update.
Last, but in no means least, here's another episode of.....

WEBSITE OF THE MOMENT:

Jeff Russell's Starship Dimensions
Really, this is quite the undertaking. What Mr. Russell has done is taken beautiful graphic articulations of many of the starship that we see in the Sci-Fi movies and TV shows and compared them against on another in both size and look. This may sound boring to those not into the Sci-Fi scene, but it's really quite well done. He has measurements of the sizes of these ships in comparison to our own airplanes and huge buildings (Sears Tower, Eiffel Tower). It's quite visually stunning as his artistry is quite impressive.

That's all for today.

And the Ignorant Shall Rule the Roads (and the networks)...

Here's a quickie gripe for you....

Me? I'm a cautiously aggressive driver. I like to get from point "A" to point "B" on time and in one piece with as little of stopping and going below 30 mph as possible. So why are there hoards of millions out on the road who want to prevent me from doing just that? Why, within :30 seconds of each other, did I have to encounter two of the most mindlessly rude and dangerously aggressive drivers in the city?

One bastage was driving as slow as he could in front of me while there was no one in front of him. He slows down in front of a GREEN light and times it so that he can then speed up and get through the light as it turns yellow, leaving me behind at the red.

Then I had to deal with a real vomit of a human being. I come to a stop and next to me, IN THE RIGHT HAND TURN LANE is some balding scuz-ball in a heap of an old station wagon. When the light turns green I head straight. He decides to do the same thing even though he's committed to making a right hand turn. What makes this worse is the fact that I'm well ahead of him. and he speeds up and cuts me off in the one lane street. Needless to say he got a bit of my horn and an earfull of my wonderfully colorful vocabulary.

I can understand making a mistake on the road. But why are there so many people that have to go out of there way to try and not only cheese people off to their own amusement, but also be quite dangerous about it? It's time the law brought back a little medieval torture to the roads. Doncha think?

Ok, now from a rant that's dark, disturbing and worrisome to one chalked full of geekosity in this edition of.....

THE WEBSITE OF THE MOMENT:

Firefly Fans.net

Back in the fall of 2002 Fox Broadcasting executives graced our TV sets with a brilliant Sci-Fi television show called "Firefly" from the mind of Sci-Fi / Horror genius, Joss Whedon ("Buffy", "Angel", "Toy Story"). The show meshed the genres of Sci-Fi, Western, Comedy and Action and had an incredible ensemble cast that worked well together. It became a fan favorite that was destined for greatness. But then some of those executives at Fox who had their heads placed where only the dingleberries dwell decided that it wasn't getting the immediate ratings boom that they expected and rather than waiting for the inevitable, huge fan base to really catch on, they got impacient and scrapped the show after only 10 episodes aired. I guess if the ignorant can get drivers' license on the streets here in my town, they can certainly become Fox Network executives.

In any case, the show was such a huge fan success that when the DVD's of the short lived series hit the shelves, they sold incredibly well. So well that movie execs took notice and gave the green light for Joss and company to make a movie based on the TV series with the original ensemble cast. The movie "Serenity" will be out late September. In the meantime, fans of the show have put together a wonderful resource for others to visit at the link above.

Enjoy!
