The Fires of Robhain Shall Burn Eternal....

Although it's a three day weekend and I have a cook out to go to every day this weekend, I don't have too much to blog about tonight, except for the fact that tomorrow's cook out is known as Robhain!

Robhain is the birthday party of my friend, Roberto DelAmorte, as thrown by his lovely wife, Iris Von Beaverhousen. Those of you who have a woman who throws you an extravagant, no holds bared, blood filled birthday bash should consider yourselves among the very few and very lucky! This celebration, that's not only a birthday party but, also a welcoming of the fall months, usually starts out with witty banter, drinking and some noshing, but usually ends up with some form of junkyard wars meets horror-show contests and then accumulates with a bon fire, blood letting and someone leaving with a missing appendage. Just the way Roberto likes it!!! The photo within this blog is from a Robhain ceremony a few years past. As you can see a dark sence of humor and a strong constitution is required. I hope he likes the gift that I got him as I had to perform "favors" to some tall guy with a "boomstick" to get it. That's all I'll say on that matter (...says Zangz, with a tear rolling down his eye).

But, let's move onto something less disturbing. I think it's time for another edition of.....

WEBSITE OF THE MOMENT:

Clyde Caldwell.com
Clyde Caldwell is one of the most renowned fantasy / gaming artists out there today. His artwork has been published in many of the gaming manuals of the most popular role playing games on the shelves! His artwork is also no stranger to many fantasy novels and books. He has a special eye for illustrating beautiful, strong female warriors (is it any wonder this guy's work is appreciated by the geeks of the world).

I had a chance to talk with the guy a few times back when Gen Con was in Milwaukee (Don't get me started on that again!) and he seemed very nice and down to earth. He also had a cover model, named Christine who would dress as an Amazon warrior at his booth for us geeks to ogle awkwardly at (She didn't even call security on me, like the others had. Props to her!). The last time I ran into Clyde was a few years ago when I unexpectedly saw him at a haunted attraction know as "Terror On Rural Street" (more on that place during the Halloween season). I saw him walking out with his wife. I didn't say anything to him because I was with some friends who were in a hurry to get inside.

Since I'm now off the subject of Clyde Caldwell and onto haunted attractions, I think I shall retire for the evening and enjoy a nice cigar outside.

Until next time, "Let the Fires of Robhain bring peace and Hapiness to your Lives... while also summoning the dead". See ya!

The Coming of Robhain.

I'm popping in here real quickly with this message to all of humanity....

"And behold unto the masses
The dark times have approached us.
Time for the weak to cower in great fear
Pain and suffering shall commence at the 15th hour of the day of the 6th of September,
A September to dismember.
Bloodshed and bruising, imbibing and hedonism, self mutilation and dark joy.
Moistness!
The fires of Robahain shall burn hot and brightly.
The souls of the good and just shall perish.
Tis the celebration of Roberto turning 42.
Angel to some, Demon to others"

Unbelievably, this passage was found inscribed on a tablet found not 20 yards from where they found the Rosetta Stone. No Poop! I'm not kiddin'! It was called the Roberto Stone and it has been long lost for many years.

In any case, tomorrow many of us are celebrating Roberto's birthday that we call Robhain. If you want to learn more about Robhain, you can click HERE and see how the holiday has digressed into pure hedonistic debauchery throughout the years.

I'll blog soon as to how all things went.

Happy Birthday, Roberto!

A Robhain for Roberto.

This week brought no new exciting genre stuff to geek out about. However, last weekend was one heck-o-roonie of a good time! It was the 40th celebration of Robhain (aka: my friend, Roberto's 40th birthday party) So sit back a bit and I'll tell you about it.

Every year my friend's wife throws him a HUGE birthday extravaganza that is usually theme oriented and involves lots of contests, beer and food. In years past we've had Horror themed ones. This year it was a WWII theme as the party goers were separated into two teams, Axis and Allies (as Roberto has been addicted to Call of Duty on the Xbox 360) . The competitions included a recreation of the bombings of Berlin/London with water rockets (none came close to the miniature cities we created out of cardboard boxes, but one nearly took out some roofing on Roberto's house, much to the chagrin of his lovely wife, Iris). There was also a code/cryptix treasure hunt, rocket cars, dwarves dressed as Churchill and Stalin doing a dance, a mine field race, smarming from Peej, a knee injury, an ankle injury, an ass injury (all incurred well before the festivities even started) and lots and lots of food prepared by the good Lady Peej, wife of Peej The Smarmer. (actually, the dwarf thing I made up. I was checking to see if anyone actually reads these friggin' blogs).

All in all, Robhain 2006 was a wonderful success. I'm already wondering what Iris is going to think up for next year. Dwarves?

Here's something I was pondering on a bit lately. What ever happened to Saturday morning cartoons? Do you remember when Saturday morning was the be all to end all? When I was a kid we had Scooby Doo, The Funky Phantom, Sid and Marty Kroft's Super Show, Super Friends, Clue Club, Jabber Jaw , Josie and the Pussycats (can you tell I loved the adventure and mystery cartoons?) and loads more cool as heck cartoon and children's programming. Now Saturday morning's are plagued with news shows and horrible infomercials.

I remember when Saturday morning was an event! Once the crisp fall air would waken us on a Saturday morning we'd race downstairs from our beds and watch all the new cartoon shows that the networks would come up with. Very few of them had anything to do with Poke-what's and Youh-Gi- Who's. The Friday night before the new cartoon season they'd have TV specials on each of the networks to showcase the new season! Then the next morning from as early as 7am on through, sometimes, 1pm all three major networks would regale us with hours of fun filled adventure. The commercials were a wish list of all the new toys, action figures and uber-sugarized cereals. It was a cornucopia of fun that stroked our youthful imaginations. The kids today are lucky if they get a couple of hours of corporatized cartoons disguised as crappy anime. But then again they have things like video games, iPods and internet porn to amuse them. Sigh....ahh, the good old days.

In gaming news.... I'm replaying through Return to Castle Wolfenstein on the Xbox. A fun FPS with lots of spooky, pulpy content. A fun one, but you can chew right through it within a day's worth of pounding on the controller.

The Octoberfests are starting to make their way to the store shelves, the local convenience stores are starting to stock Trick-or-Treat candies and the leaves are, indeed starting to change color. Labor Day is upon us already and these are all signs that the wonderful time of year when the undead rise from their graves and seek out the living is right around the corner. As usual, my Blog of Geekdom will be turned into a virtual Halloween Headquarters where you'll be able to share in the love of Halloween that I have.

Hopefully, very soon I'll have that announcement on the expansion tot eh Zangz's media empire that you've all been waiting for.

Well, I think I'm going to run on over to the local blockbuster and rent me some episodes of Deadwood. Since I don't have HBO, I check out the show on DVD. What an awesome, if not VERY adult oriented, show. That Al Swearengen is one nasty bastage!

So, see ya later.

Robhain in Retrospect...

The air is slightly cooler.  The top of the trees are starting to change from deep greens to bright oranges and reds.  The sunrises invade the dark, blue,  morning skies with shades of purple and orange.  During the evenings I sleep well, dreaming of Jack O Lanterns, spooky old houses and spirits floating about the foggy graveyards.

God, I love this season!  It truly evokes feelings of magic and mystery.  My calendar is already starting to fill up for October.  I already have two parties to go to.  Of course there will be the visits to a few Haunted Attractions as well as many horror movies to rent.  I'll, of course, review them here.

But first, lets go back a few weeks ago when my good friend Roberto "Ranch on the Side" DelAmorte had his annual birthday bash, Robhain!

This year there wasn't an overall theme, but the contests were every bit as enjoyable as in years past.  Partygoers were separated into two teams.  We were given a bunch of wood, tools and other crafty things to use in our three objectives.
  • Objective 1: Create a rocket/plane that would take off and sore into the sky.
  • Objective 2: Create a giant slingshot to hurl apples for distance.
  • Objective 3: Create an effigy to hurl water balloons at.
Though our projectile rocket had a potentially life threatening climax, the other team (Roberto's) shot straight up into the sky.  Our apple slinger/thingy did quite well.  And we moistened the crap out of our effigy (who resembled Roberto's teammate, Peej, a little too well).

The rest of the contest was an all out trivia-fest with one category that involved spinning the "Wheel of Shame".  After the weaker of the guests left the party, myself and Roberto enjoyed a nice bon fire that pretty much ended the cardboard effigies existence.  I smoked a nice big cigar as Iris VonBeaverhousen (Roberto's one true love and the person who planned this whole, incredible shin-dig!) joined us outside to cuddle up to the fire and snuggle Roberto.  Not soon after she started her snuggling did she start to freak out on how big the fire was.  Thus, romantic scene ended abruptly as Roberto spent the rest of the outdoor relaxation dousing. the metal fire pit with water.

Another successful Robhain was had by all!!!

On to other geek-filled endeavorers....

I recently rented a game that I had a bit of an interest in after I heard it referred to as "a potential Diablo killer".  Now, I absolutely love the addictive game play of Diablo!  When I heard that a '360 game was trying to one up the Diablo series I just had to check this baby out.  The game is called Too Human. (see gameplay HERE)  I rented it for a few days hoping to find the next '360 "Must Buy!"

I have to say that this puppy had tons upon tons of addictive potential.  It had a cool story-line, a cool world and motif (Halo meets Norse mythology), it had an cool RPG feel and wonderful weapons to trade in and out.  But sadly the pure crap-tastic control scheme destroyed any hope for me wanting to continue to play or even buy the game.  There's no way to truly lock on to the hordes of baddies they throw on you at once.  Plus, the camera views are absolutely unforgivable.   One of the control sticks controls your character's movement while the other controls your character's sword movement. There is no control of moving the camera around to see what's behind or at the side of you.  You're at the mercy of the game's cameras.  This leaves you horribly exposed for unfair enemy hits.  God forbid you're up against a sub boss, where you'll end up dying several time just to finally conquer them.

This could have been one of the best games I played this year, but the half-assed controls make it one of the worst and that's too bad.

But, one thing I'm loving is Monday night television as Terminator: The Sarah Conner Chronicles airs before Heros. A very cool night to watch TV!!!

This past weekend I went over to Mad Mario's for his game of Call of Cthulhu RPG.  It was quite the nastiness as my character (a hard-nosed detective) was nearly stabbed to death and two other character's were horribly killed.  A good challenging game, indeed!

Well, that's all for this evening. I'm going home to have some dinner, a nice Pumpkin Ale and perhaps, later, a cigar.

Until next time, remember, the dead are coming for you, Barbara!

The Bloodshed of Last Weekend...

Another week passed, another blog ignored by most of my constituency. Oh well, I'll blog anyway.

Last weekend was a blast. The only minor scrape (more like cut) was Saturday right before a friend of the family's wedding when I was punching another hole into my new belt (that was to small) with a very sharp pen knife. The pen knife slipped and took out a small wedge of my right thumb. It was one of those classic, Zangz's "I DID NOT JUST FRACKIN' DO THAT, DID I?" moments of my life. After much bleeding, band aiding, and medical taping, I went to the wedding with a huge bandaged thumb. I still took time out from the excitement of the wedding and pain of my thumb to have a nice sweet Gurkha stogie with my brother in law. On top of that, it was an open bar. Thumb be damned! I had a good time.

Sunday's festivities brought on pain of a whole different sort when a few close friends were pummeled by light speed water balloons. Both Iris and Roberto ended up with slight bruises during Robhain's (see last blog) water balloon war. Damn good time it was also. Even I got a smack of water filled rubber up the side of my head. Good times.... good times. The evening ended with a fire pit and a nice big assed stogie. This thing was close to a 60 ring gauge. It took an hour and a half to go through... much to the chagrin of the more anal party goers. Bruises, good conversation and a stogie. Another successful Robhain.

Than Monday I traveled back in time when men wore tights, had foppy accents and were prim and proper. No! Not the local Gay Pride Parade. It was the nearby Renaissance Faire. Good food, good ale, good company and chicks in chain mail. Gotta love it! It's great to go somewhere where everyone is kinda on the same page in an imaginative state. Though, a lot of the fantasy driven folk somewhat clashed with the more Ren-historic people. One minute your talking to someone from Queen Elizabeth's court who's explaining what the Queen's royal feast was like, the next your seeing a group of leather clad, sword carrying invaders march throughout the streets with their banner held high as they yell, "Out of our way! Make way for the hordes". There were also people with elven ears on and goth chicks playing harps and other such string instruments. The best thing about Ren Faire is that 75% of the people in costumes don't even work there! I should make it an annual trip there, rather than wait a few years at a time.

Well, the Octoberfests and fall seasonal brews are suddenly hitting the shelves with reckless abandon. Within the last few weeks I've tried a few new Octoberfests and a fun pumpkin ale. On top of all that, there's an ever so slight tease in the color of the trees. Their slowly starting to change color. Not much to notice if you're not looking for it, but it's there. The season of dead comes ever closer!!!! Watch for quite a few horror movie and haunted house reviews coming your way here in the Blog of Geekdom!

I'm outta here. Short but sweet.

Jerry will have to take a back seat this weekend....

This is going to be painlessly short as it's the Labor Day weekend and my whole weekend is positively CRAMMED with loads of fun and frolic!!!

It all starts with a huge wedding of the sister of a childhood friend. This friend and I used to run around our neighborhood at night and try and scare the bajeezers out of each other. We called it Spooky Time and would actually set up mysteries for each other to solve. We also pretended to hunt ghosts and monsters like they did on Saturday morning cartoons. That was when we were like 12 years old. Now he's all grown up, has a military career and actually taught at West Point for a spell. And I'm all grown up and I'm still trying to spook people (Just ask my friend Iris about the undead Civil War soldiers buried in her back yard.). So, tomorrow his little sister gets hitched and my family gets to attend. Here's hoping for a open bar.

Then the next day is the infamous ROBHAIN (Samhain+Roberto's B-Day=Robhain!). I've blogged about this a few times before, like here and here and here. Every year it's an absolute blast. Every year someone loses an important body part, every year someone leaves in a huff and every year Roberto gets the shat spoiled out of him! Hmmm... Leaves me to think that maybe I should whip up myself a big shindig this year. You only turn the big 4-0 once. I should put together something special for myself, shouldn't I? Let's see, who'd want to come. Hmmmm? It would probably end up being me, some of my old action figures, my various autographed pictures of actors and actresses from Star Wars and a plastic Halloween skeleton decoration that I have hanging in my bedroom (Somebody, end the pain for me now.)

Then on Labor Day I'm going to the local Ren Fair! Now that's one hell of a geeky way to celebrate Labor Day!!! I wonder if there will be any Trekkies there dressed in the Starfleet uniforms pretending that they're in a Star Trek episode where A) They've found a gateway that allows them to travel back in time. B) They've found a planet that hasn't progressed past the medieval /Renaissance period. C) They've gotten lost in one of the hollo-deck programs. No lie. This is actually a bit of a past time for the more obsessed Trekkie. But, you know what? I think that as odd as that is, I also think it's kind of cool in a counter culture kind of way. And you don't get any more counter culture than going to a Ren Fair dressed as a Klingon Starfleet officer.

So my weekend is booked! I don't even thin I'll even get a peek at the Jerry Lewis Telethon this year. But ,you can bet your sweet a$$ that the weekend will involve a good brewski and cigar or two... or three... or four... probably more like several!

Until next time, stay vertical and enjoy your 3 day weekend.

A Meeting of Legends!

There are certain points in history that have remarkable power that last well into the future of mankind.

One such moment took place this weekend at an event that many of us geeks refer to as a incarnation of Geek Valhalla. DragonCon ran from this past Wednesday night through Monday evening in Atlanta, Georgia.

To call it a Sci-Fi, Fantasy, Horror or pop culture convention would not be doing it justice. To say the least it is a grand explosion of the imaginatively blessed who converge on the city of Atlanta and let their geek flag fly high and mighty! It is a cornucopia of fantastical delights!!! Not only do the fans of the genres gather to become one there, many of the celebs, actors and actresses of the genre TV shows and movies also take part in panel discussions and meet and greets while rubbing elbows with the fans.

One such panel discussion was an event that will live in wonderment for time to come. I'm am speaking of the William Shatner / Leonard Nimoy panel discussion that took place.

Sadly, there was no possible way either financially or logistically that I could attend (and besides, there's no way I was going to miss Robahin). And I'm pretty sure thousands of other geeks were in my same situation this weekend.

That is why I was thrilled when I was cruising YouTube yesterday and came across the Shatner / Nimoy panel discussion that a very wonderful person called WhatJaneSays posted for those of us that missed out on the event of a lifetime.

I highly suggest that if you have about an hour, you'll want to check out the links of the panel discussion below. It is not only very humorous, you're also given a glimpse of Shatner and Nimoy's friendship and how well they bounce things off one another. It's pretty hilarious! So if you need some cheering up (and I know a few people who do right now!) have a gander at these......

In a DragonCon side note, I'm hoping to get a report out of my buddy Bruce who got to attend this weekend. Hopefully he'll have some pretty cool stories that I will post here soon. We'll have to give him time to settle down a bit upon his return home. DragonCon is a 24 hour, 5 day party for geeks and I'm sure it took a bit of the piss out of him.

On another subject, we celebrated the birthday of my good friend Roberto with the annual Robhain festivities (see last post) were we always joke that someone will eventually end up in the hospital. Again it involved construction and destruction contests as well as trivia contests. And there was the ever plentiful amount of wondrous food and beverages. A good time was had by all.... until someone actually did have to go to the hospital. It's nothing that will involve any litigation concerning Robhain, however, I would ask all readers of the blog (2.5 of you) to send good vibes out my friend Iris' way. It is much appreciated.

I'm heading out to run some errands before I return to work tomorrow. So take care and remember those good vibes!

The Reminants of Robhain....

I hope you all had a really nice Labor Day weekend and are recovering nicely from all the food and brews you stuffed into your system.

Robhain was a success, as usual. I won't give you a play by play, but suffice it to say Roberto made out good at his B-day celebration. The father to be also scored some nice baby gifts. But, the highlight of the evening was the failed attempt at primitive ground warfare that was a junkyard wars meets sloppy slingshots and water rockets battle. It was both very impressive while also futile. I should talk, I have all the workmanship and engineering skills of a moist towelette. During the construction part of the contest I spent the time mumbling... "Ummm...what do I do now? How in the heck do I do that? Current vs. Resistance equals voltage? What the frell does that mean?" Even though my team had the world's biggest dullard (that'd be me) on their team, we still had a great time. And D-La had WAY too much sugar.

I may have raised some eyebrows when I last described what I got Roberto. But, what I really got Rob was an autographed book, "Make Love the Bruce Campbell Way" by author / actor Bruce Campbell, and when I finally get my pictures developed, I'll send Roberto a picture of Bruce actually signing his book. I may even post it on the blog here.

Some other stuff.... Alice Cooper (another favorite of Roberto's and mine) has his own radio show and I'm going to try and see if I can't get my rickety old portable FM radio to work so I can listen while smoking a Cuba Libre outside this evening. Roberto and I saw Alice a few years back at a county fair with some other friends joining us. Alice was phenomenal and still puts on a theatrically stellar show. He's the only guy who can boast that one day he'll be golfing with Michael Douglas and Katherine Zeta Jones and the next day he'll be having his own head severed by a guillotine on stage in front of thousands of people. Ya gotta look up to a guy like that.

Ok, I'm outta here. Just had to spout a little pop culture crud onto the world wide web to boost my own lack of self esteem.

We'll talk soon.

Kelly Clarkson gets herself SKOOLED!!

I promise this one will be a quickie since I took the day off to bum around and schlep a bit. So I don't want my blogging time to interfere with either my schlepping or bumming.

First and foremost, I found this little You Tube doosey that I thought I'd like to share with you. No, it doesn't have anything that deals with Sci-Fi, Fantasy or Horror, but how many times in your lifetime can you say that you've seen an intoxicated Kelly Clarkson sing along with a Hair Metal comedy/tribute band called Metal Skool. "None.", you say? Then, by all means, feast your eyes HERE for a bit of a chuckle. (By the way, hope you don't have dial-up, like I do. 'Cause it will take you at least 45 minutes to fully download this post American Idol extravaganza. Oh, also, there is a bit of adult language associated within the video. So if your ears are cursed with a puritanical mentality, best not to witness. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED! And please don't Flag me, ya simps!).

See, even teen idols need to seriously kick back, rock out and take no prisoners. Ya just have to wonder what kind of a hangover Ms. Clarkson had to endure the next day.

Anyway, one of the reasons I took off of work today was to rest myself for tomorrow's festivities. The annual Feast of Robhain (aka: my friend, Roberto DelAmorte's, 40th birthday bash) will be in full swing and some of the contests can get quite competitive. So, I have to mentally ready myself for the trails that lie ahead for my team and me. This year's theme is World War II so I suspect there will be lots of references to odd German military jargon like, Panzerfaust and Maschinengewehr 08 and Flammenwerfer 35 and the dreaded Panzerwehrwerfer 69 (ok, that last one I made up.). I of course will let you all know how things went.

Otherwise, nothing to geek out about this week, sad to say. Ok, then. On to more bumming and schlepping. Perhaps tonight I'll indulge in a nice fat cigar. Hmmmmm....

Until next time, Seacrest out.

Time Travel to the Fantastical

Last weekend I had a bit of a fun adventure. I traveled back in time to a place where the history of the Renaissance was meshed together with Medieval Fantasy. A place where one minute I was avoiding an armor clad Klingon heading right in my direction and the next I was scoping out a beautiful young harpist playing by the side of the road. Another minute I would be watching a cute little Wood Nymph play with a young, visiting child.

This place of great mystery, oddities and magic can only be one location. I speak of course of the local Renaissance Fair.

Last Sunday some of my family and friends hit the road, out of the city, and out into the Southern farm lands. Once we traversed the traffic and mass amount of needless construction we found ourselves on a quaint back road that led us to the wonderful little township of Bristol, a berg that time forgot.

As soon as we got out of the car we noticed the many folks dressed in Renaissance, Medieval and Fantasy clothing. All the while I was thinking, "Now these are my kind of people!" As you may have guessed, I have a very soft spot for people who really get into the Fantastical.

And this would be the place that they would be able to let their hair down and feel welcome and comfortable, far away from the mundane, judgmental and yuppie-esque "real" world.

As soon as we made our way through the main gates we found ourselves immediately plunked, smack dab into a magical little township. The yells of storekeepers selling their goods, the smell of delicious foods and the music of a time thought long gone attacked our senses.

A jester entertaining a small band of royals and wealthy was the first introduction into our immersion into the fantasy world that these imaginative people who run, work at and attend the Ren Fair had for us.

We finally reached our initial destination of the jousting field. The knights, both good and evil, put on a great show where one of the evil knights won the contest. Huzzah for the dark ones!

As we made our way further into the heavily wooded township we saw a bevy of young wenches selling pickles, mushrooms and cheese fritters. Of course my eyes were glued to those tasty cheese fritters the whole time......... honest.

There were many leather good shops and blacksmith stores selling all manner of battle tool. My Bro-In-Law played around with one a bit. It was a wonderfully nasty instrument that was a staff that had an axe at its head with what looked like a pronged meat tenderizer on the opposite side of the axe. Not being a weapons historian, I have no clue as to what it was called, but I'm sure quite a few knight in shining armor got sliced and diced by one of them back in the day.

There were a few shops I enjoyed quite a bit. There was the little occult shop where I picked up a book on Zombies for my Halloween reading. There was also a shop dedicated to walking sticks and staffs. I have to admit, I was eyeing up one particular large, black staff that had a twist design going up it. At it's head was a Samuel Adams Black Larger tap. It was a bit out of my price range for this month's budget. So Sadly I missed out on my "Staff of Everlasting Grog" It would have given me a +50 against weak, skunky domestic beers.

"PBR Me? I think not! Get me a good micro-brew or import you silly lackey!"

Which reminds me of another good thing about the Ren Fair! They have five or six pubs throughout the township that not only sell the usual domestic swill, they also have a few lager and stout imports on hand.

The best part of it all were the people who come to these things dressed in full fantasy regalia! These aren't the people who work or run the fair though. These are the incredibly imaginative and talented folks who come in their own armor, with swords and magic staffs in hand. They're always ready to do battle with whatever invading army or dragon that may come to threaten the fair. Actually the only threat are the foul-minded yuppies who show up and shake their heads in disbelief. Sadly, they just don't get it. But, this isn't their world. There are no stock portfolios to plot and plan over, no golf courses, no business suits, no trophy wife / husband and no greed or boredom. Only the magic of imagination.

My only regret is that I never get a chance to hang with these Ren Fair people. Rumor has it, they throw real good parties after the fair shuts down for the day. And what self respecting geek wouldn't want to party with a bevy of wenches?

In other geekified news....

I've gone back to playing Fallout 3 since I have a couple of add on packs that I've installed. I finished up on both "The Pitt" and "Operation: Anchorage" and now I'm working on "Point Lookout" and "Broken Steel". All the bloodshed and character development a gamer could ask for in the post apocalyptic world of Washington D.C. and Maryland. Point Lookout looks particularly creepy as it takes place in some swampland and involves fighting off inbreds.

The Festival of Robahain (my friend Roberto's B-Day party) is coming up next weekend. There's sure to be bloodshed and fun. You can read about past Robhain's HERE, HERE, HERE and HERE. I'll report back, if I make it out alive.

Concerning reporting back, Zangz's Blog of Geekdom is sending a special agent to the geek festival of DragonCon, a five day Fantasy, Sci-Fi, Horror and gaming convention held every year in Atlanta. Since Gen Con has become pretty lame since it left Milwaukee, DragonCon has become the "go to" con for Role Players and fanboys alike.

My buddy Bruce is heading down there and I'm trying to get him to prep a report on his findings. So watch for that soon!

You do know what is also coming up, don't you? C'mon! All the signs are there. The slight change in temperature, the ever so change in the color of the leaves in trees, the Octoberfests and Pumpkin ales are already starting to hit the store shelves and the fact that a bunch of Halloween Express' are already popping up around town! The Season of the Dead is coming quicker than you may think. I've already bought a pumpkin scented candle. Is it too early to get into the Halloween vibe. Perhaps......... NAW!!!! It's never too early to get into the Halloween season!!!!

And with that, I close this blog. Until next time, as a wise man once told me, Stay Vertical!
